DESCRIPTION: Unknown, possibly New Hampshire, patent or banjo wall clock, 8 days, time and alarm, weight driven movement with weight alarm in a mahogany case with reverse painted tablets and painted metal dial, c1825
CONDITION: the round molded case has an old and possibly original finish. The half round molding has some shrinkage cracks. The single piece pine backboard has a cutout to make room for the bell. The movement is attached to the case with a single screw through the back plate. The original painted dial has general wear to the numbers and is attached to the head with two L turns. The hands are original. The bottom tablet (Escape of the Constitution) is original with some minor loss. The throat glass is a later replacement. The original, but broken throat glass from which the restoration was copied, is included. The weight baffle is a replacement. This specific clock sold for $4400 in our May 14th & 15th, 2011 sale.
